Abstract

Objective: Understanding the epidemiological and sociodemographic aspects of the occurrence of gastroschisis in live newborns of pregnant with prenatal care in Mato Grosso (MT). Methods: This was a cross-sectional study and the information was quantified by a set of Live Birth Certificates in 01/01/2015 to 12/31/2015, with the variables being separated through analysis in the Epi info™, combining the association between exposure and factors of risk and outcome with statistical significance. Results: Among the total sample of 43,223 women, through the bivariate analysis, a prevalence in children of primiparous (95%CI 1.88; 4.78), in the risk groups: age group ≤18 or ≥36 (95%CI 1, 31; 3.63), single, separated or widowed (95%CI 1.84;4.65) and at least 6 prenatal consultations (95%CI 0.81; 2.04). There was a higher prevalence of the anomaly in premature fetuses (95%CI 4.30;10.60). In terms of geographic location Sinop, Rondonópolis, Diamantino and Juara stood out, all belonging to areas of exposure to pesticides (95%CI 2.08;5.12) and regions with a high HDI (95%CI 2.17 ;10.30). Conclusion: Primiparity, regions with high HDI, areas of exposure to pesticides, mothers without a stable union, prematurity and low maternal age are risk factors for the occurrence of gastroschisis.
