Abstract
Objective: Toanalyze the characteristics of borderline personality disorder. Bibliographic review: Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) carriers have nonspecific manifestations of lack of tolerance to anxiety, impulse control and sublimation capacity, severe disturbances in object relations, and chronic and multiple neurotic symptoms. The occurrence of the disorder is 2% in the population, being more common in women, approximately 75% two cases, because when it occurs in men, symptoms such as aggressiveness are aggravated. TPB carriers have suicidal gestures or threats, and self-mutilation behaviors, and about 75% of two borderline patients have at least once attempted suicide or committed suicide throughout their lives, directly affecting the quality of life of the individuals and two who are around them. Final considerations: The TPB is a common disorder in society, but not widely spread, characterized by a diffuse instability in interpersonal relationships, in self-image and in affective relationships, with marked impulsiveness in different contexts, or that leads to non-coexistence difficulties. In this context, it is essential to disseminate information about the disease in order to promote a greater number of diagnoses and, as well, as a diagnosis and correct multiprofessional treatment, improve or coexistence in the carrier's society.
