Abstract
Objective: Understand the distribution of Congenital Syphilis comparing the Federal District with Brazil. Methods: The topic was approached from the PICOS strategy, in which tabulation variables were formulated for insertion in DATASUS. The data were organized with the final consolidation into tables by the Word application. There was no need for submission to the Ethics Council, since these are secondary data in the public domain. Results: Data analysis showed an increase in cases with the period 2018 and 2019 with the highest number of cases. The detection rate showed a similar behavior and, comparing Brazil with the Federal District (DF), there was also agreement. As for the profile of mothers, both in Brazil and in the Federal District, it shows a young, mixed-race profile with low education. The diagnoses, in the last analysis, show a predominant characteristic during prenatal care, with inadequate treatment of both the pregnant woman and the partner and final evolution of the living child. Conclusion: Syphilis is an easily controlled disease, but it depends on improving fundamental aspects of care, as well as improving education in order to have better prevention practices.
