Resumen
Objective: To report the case of a patient diagnosed with Crohn's disease who manifests the desire to become pregnant and who evolves with the birth of a healthy fetus, scientifically reviewing the possible maternal-fetal complications and their interrelations. Case detailing: Female patient, twenty-two years old, with recent diagnosis of Crohn's disease and after three years of regular treatment with gastroenterologist, manifests desire to become pregnant. At the age of twenty-eight she becomes pregnant, using aminosalicylars, corticosteroids and immunobiologicals. During the course of pregnancy presents relapse of the disease and after term birth of a healthy child, presents complications in the puerperium. Final considerations: The high prevalence of inflammatory bowel diseases in females may be an obstacle to the desire for pregnancy. However, there are currently several studies that prove the existence of effective and safe therapies to the mother-fetus binomial, such as the use of aminosalicylates and immunomodulators. It is necessary to follow up with a gastroenterologist and multidisciplinary team to individuate each case and institution of appropriate treatment.
