Resumen
Objetivo: Analizar exhaustivamente la evidencia disponible sobre el tratamiento de mordida abierta anterior con alineadores de ortodoncia. Métodos: Se aplicó una estrategia de búsqueda en PubMed, con términos asociados a “Clear Aligners AND Open Bite”, con el fin de realizar una revisión integradora del tema. Se aplicaron filtros para publicaciones con texto completo y con fecha de publicación dentro de los últimos 5 años. La selección de artículos se realizó en base a títulos, resúmenes o texto completo. Los datos recolectados fueron respectivamente: autores, año de publicación, diseño del estudio, objetivo principal y conclusión. Resultados: Inicialmente se encontraron 275 artículos. De ellos, sólo 41 fueron publicados en los últimos cinco años y 38 tenían el texto completo. Después del análisis, se incluyeron 10 artículos en esta revisión integradora. Los alineadores de ortodoncia corrigieron la mordida abierta anterior mediante movimientos de intrusión molar, extrusión y retracción de incisivos, rotación mandibular en sentido antihorario y disminución de la altura facial. Se utilizaron miniimplantes, miniplacas, elásticos verticales, ataches optimizados, microosteoperforaciones y vibraciones de alta frecuencia para optimizar el movimiento. Consideraciones finales: Según los estudios incluidos, parece posible tratar la mordida abierta anterior con alineadores de ortodoncia, especialmente en casos leves y moderados.
