Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the growth curve of uterine height in diabetic pregnant women and comparison with the curve of non-diabetic pregnant women. Methods: This was a historical cohort in which 136 pregnant women with gestational diabetes, previous Priscilla White (PW) class B or C diabetes and non-diabetic pregnant women were studied. Results: The mean age of the patients was 29.9 + 6.78 years, with a mean of 1.98 + 1.37 pregnancies, 0.91 + 1.16 deliveries, and 1.0 + 0.0 abortions. Regarding blood glucose levels in the first, second and third trimester, higher means were identified in pregnant women with diabetes. There was an association between uterine height and diabetes, so that diabetic pregnant women had a larger uterine size after 20 weeks, at all selected intervals (p<0.05). Cesarean section was the preferred delivery method for diabetic pregnant women (p<0.05). Conclusion: Despite good glycemic control, diabetic pregnant women have a higher uterine growth pattern than pregnant women without diabetes.
