Abstract

Objective: To share the experience of using a simulation manikin with feedback device in training cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills by nursing undergraduates. Experience report: The report was based on a CPR training offered through an extension program "Managing care in high complexity" by the discipline: Nursing in Higher Complexity Units I for nursing undergraduates in their 8th semester of a public university located in Niterói-RJ. Despite declaring that the experience during the training was their first practical contact with CPR techniques, all participants presented a performance of over 90% accuracy throughout the training, as measured by the application. It was possible to monitor the chest return, depth, speed and quantity of chest compressions performed, as well as the quality and quantity of ventilation applied by each participant. Final considerations: By using the teaching strategy through clinical simulation, it was possible to effectively develop the competencies and skills necessary for these future nursing professionals to act both intra and extra-hospital in situations involving Cardiorespiratory Arrest, even in a short period of time.
