Abstract
Objective: To analyze adherence to immunosuppressive treatment in patients undergoing liver transplantation in the recent and intermediate post-liver transplantation phase. Methods: Cross-sectional study carried out at the Liver Transplant Outpatient Clinic of the Walter Cantídio University Hospital, between July 2019 and December 2022, with patients aged between 18 and 75 years. 61 patients met the inclusion criteria and were characterized in terms of sex, age, marital status, family income, origin and immunosuppressants in use. The results of adherence to immunosuppressive treatment were obtained using the Brief Medication Questionnaire (BMQ). The Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) program was used for data storage and analysis. Results: In the recent post-transplantation period, levels of probable low adherence (44.2%) and low adherence (37.9%) were more frequent and influenced by the regimen and recall dimensions of the BMQ. In the intermediate period, probable adherence (52.4%) was highlighted and may have been influenced by the decrease in the impact of the regimen and belief dimensions, and the persistence of the recall dimension. Conclusion: There was an improvement in adherence when patients entered the intermediate phase. However, it was not enough to achieve full adherence, which leads us to think about the complexity of the subject, the various adaptations, especially in questions related to drug treatment.
