Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the quality of life of Brazilian hospital pharmacists, two years after the beginning of the pandemic, and to characterize the associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 237 pharmacists. We used a survey validated with the Professional Quality of Life Scale, which assesses Compassion Satisfaction (CS), Compassion Fatigue (CF), and Burnout (BO). T-test and ANOVA were used for the comparison of groups and Bootstrapping for normality correction; Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests were used to verify the normality of distribution. Results: Most of the interviewees reported moderate or high CS (71.3%), BO (78.9%), and CF (72.2%). Females reported higher values CF (d = 0.45); pharmacists between 40-49 years-old demonstrated lower values for BO than pharmacists between 20-29 years-old [(ΔM = -0.74; 95% CI Bca (-1.15 – -0.35)] and between 30-39 years-old [(ΔM = 0.49; 95% Bca CI (-0.87 – -0.16)]; professionals working more than 44 hours/week showed higher values for BO than professionals working up to 36 hours [(ΔM = 0.54; 95% Bca CI (0.14 - 0.95)]. Conclusion: Pharmacists reported moderate levels of BO, CF and CS. Gender, marital status, age group, and workload were identified as factors associated with BO and CF.
