Abstract
Objective: To elucidate the main clinical manifestations, the challenges faced and the implications of Syphilis in the lives of pregnant women. Methods: This research is characterized as an integrative and descriptive review with a qualitative approach. More than 7,500 studies were found in the scientific databases, of which ten were chosen as the central bibliography of this research. Results: It was found that syphilis during pregnancy has the mother's socioeconomic condition, education and lack of information as its main risk factors. It was also revealed that two of the main consequences associated with not treating the condition are the development of congenital syphilis, in addition to the high emotional distress of the mother on several aspects of the pregnancy. Final considerations: It was revealed that two of the main consequences related to non-treatment of the condition are the development of congenital syphilis, in addition to the high emotional distress of the mother on several fronts during pregnancy. Misinformation and lack of treatment are the aspects that most challenge the quality of life of the mother and baby.
