Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of auriculotherapy in pain treatment. Methods: This study is an integrative review that assesses the efficacy of auriculotherapy in pain treatment and correlates this technique as an alternative to drug use. The search was conducted using the health descriptors "AURICULOTHERAPY" and "PAIN" in Portuguese, English, and Spanish languages in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System online (PubMed), as this database allows simultaneous searches in major national and international sources. Results: Seventeen scientific articles were included for integrative analysis, with 16% evaluating auriculotherapy in conjunction with other pharmacological methods. All articles show the benefit of auriculotherapy in pain reduction, especially during childbirth (20%). Final considerations: It was possible to demonstrate that auriculotherapy is a good non-pharmacological alternative for the treatment of various types of pain, as evidenced by the success in the quantity of randomized studies.
