Abstract
Objective: To identify the perceptions of nursing professionals in cardiology about the patient safety climate. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach developed with nurses and nursing technicians from the Hospital de Clínicas Gaspar Vianna Foundation (FHCGV). The instrument “Safety Attitudes Questionnaire SAQ – Short Form 2006” was used, which is capable of assessing the safety climate through perceptions. The questionnaires were collected and tabulated in Microsoft Excel and then an exploratory data analysis was performed. Results: 67 nursing professionals out of a total number of 93 participated in the survey. The total SAQ corresponded to 73.60. The domains with the best score were “Job satisfaction” with 86.64 and “Teamwork climate” with 76.34. The worst scores were “Perception of the management of the unit and hospital” with 68.53 and 67.5. Conclusion: The analysis of the safety climate in general turned out to be negative. However, in isolation, some domains were positive. It is believed that this research can contribute to the encouragement of new studies, since the generated knowledge helps in the planning of actions related to the institutional climate.
