Abstract

Objective: To study the profile of patients with precocious puberty monitored at the Pediatric Endocrinology outpatient clinic at Pará State University, identifying their clinical and laboratory characteristics, epidemiology and possible factors related to the disease. Methods: This is an observational, analytical, cross-sectional and retrospective study - using data from the medical records of patients seen at the Pediatric Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic of the School Health Center of the State University of Pará, who were being investigated or treated for Precocious Puberty. Data, tables and statistical analysis were organized using Microsoft Word, Excel and Bioestat 5.5. The study was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of Pará State University. Results: The sample showed a predominantly female patient profile (97.3%), of school age at the first consultation (7 to 12 years).  The symptom-to-consultation time was 15.6 months (SD± 10). There was no significant prevalence of family history (8.1%) or anthropometric alterations; on the other hand, laboratory tests showed the presence of dyslipidemia (27%) and basal and stimulus LH alterations. Conclusion: It was concluded that the profile of this study is compatible with that found in previous literature, and that measures for better data recording and analysis are needed.
