Abstract
Objective: To produce and validate an educational video on the influence of polypharmacy on the oral health of the elderly and care in preventing oral diseases. Methods: This is a methodological study with a quantitative approach. The video was produced based on scientific evidence. Content validation was carried out by 8 judges from the fields of dentistry, pharmacy and medicine using the Content Validation Index (CVI). Results: The animation-type video depicts a clinical case in which an elderly patient attends the dental office presenting with oral symptoms that may be associated with the use of polypharmacy and is then instructed by the dentist on care in the prevention of oral diseases. The video was validated with a CVI of 0.97 and adjustments were made to its final version. Conclusion: The video proved to be valid as an educational technology for elderly patients, caregivers, family members and health professionals because it provides clear guidance on how to prevent oral diseases that are associated with the concomitant use of multiple medications, contributing to the quality of life of elderly patients.
