Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to carry out a detailed analysis of data related to premature births in pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19 during the pandemic period, in addition to investigating the clinical repercussions of the disease for both the mother and the fetus. Methods: This is an integrative review with a time frame from 2019 to 2024 in databases such as PubMed and the Google Scholar search engine, referring to pregnancy and covid-19. Results: Most of the studies analyzed in this review point to specific clinical characteristics and both maternal and fetal outcomes in pregnant women who contracted COVID-19. Studies highlight that infected pregnant women may often have no symptoms or only mild symptoms, which highlights the importance of active screening for this group of patients. Regarding obstetric results, there was no clear association between the type of delivery and the transmission of the disease to the newborn, while some studies indicate a possible correlation between COVID-19 and premature birth. Final considerations: COVID-19 presents unique challenges for pregnant women, with significant impacts on maternal and newborn health.
