Abstract
Objective: To identify the main stressors associated with the development of Burnout Syndrome in resident physicians described in the international literature. Methods: Integrative bibliographic research, guided by the guiding question: “What are the main stressors associated with the exacerbation of Burnout Syndrome symptoms in international studies?”, using the descriptors burnout psychological and resident doctors, from 2019 to 2024, including full articles, available in English, with abstracts from the databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), The Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Acervo+ Index Base and PubMed. Results: A direct relationship was observed between stressors in the residents' routine, such as: poor management and work-life balance, as well as a hostile work environment and excessive work demands, and the development of Burnout Syndrome during the training of specialist physicians. Final considerations: According to the research findings, there is evidence of an association between factors in the reality of resident physicians and BS, which demonstrates the need for strategies to mitigate this condition.
