Abstract

Objective: To report a free gingival graft (FGG) surgery on tooth 33 associated with low-power laser.  Case details: A 23-year-old male patient, non-smoker and without systemic alterations, attended a college with the main complaint of dentin hypersensitivity in tooth 33. In the clinical examination, the patient presented gingival recession on tooth 33, measuring 2 mm of probing depth, thin keratinized mucosa, and a clinical diagnosis of Cairo RTI. Local anesthesia was administered, and incisions were made with a 15c blade, in an internal bevel at 45° intrasulcular and relaxants, forming a trapezoidal flap and detachment with deepening of the vestibule using a 2-4 Molt detacher. Then, in the palatal region, the autogenous epithelial graft was removed and adapted in the recipient area and sutured with simple stitches until its total stability. In the postoperative period, analgesics and corticosteroids were prescribed, in addition to red laser 2 joules per point in the donor and recipient areas. Final considerations: It can be considered that, given the clinical results, EGL is an excellent graft for gaining keratinized mucosa, but not for coverage.
