Abstract

Objective: Present a clinical case of a patient who presented with a synchronous colon tumor, as well as make a brief literary review on the topic. In addition, describe other diagnostic strategies that could have been performed to optimize treatment conduction. Case Details: This is a case report based on a medical record analysis of a 70-year-old male patient who underwent a left colectomy in 2024, due to a colon tumor that was diagnosed through an incomplete colonoscopy. Therefore, it is only intraoperatively that a synchronous tumor can be diagnosed, that is, there were two intestinal tumor masses. Final Considerations: In view of the case reported, it is clear that an incomplete study of the colon impairs the diagnosis of this pathology, therefore, an inventory of the abdominal cavity must always be carried out in surgeries that explore this body segment, as well as using modern diagnostic instruments such as computed tomography colonography, if available.
