Abstract

Objective: To develop and validate a realistic simulation scenario on cardiorespiratory arrest (CPA) and apply it together with a lecture, assessing the knowledge, satisfaction, and self-confidence of the nursing team with this teaching method. Methods: This is a quantitative intervention study carried out between May and September 2022. The scenario was developed in five stages: Overview, Scenario, Design Progression, Debriefing, and Evaluation. For validation, the Content Validity Index (CVI) was used, considering a value greater than 0.75 as adequate. After validation, the scenario was applied as institutional training in a cardioneurovascular hospital, following the following phases: pre-test, clinical simulation, lecture, and post-test. Results: The scenario was validated by five judges, obtaining an average CVI of 0.95. Subsequently, 186 nursing professionals participated in the simulation. The data showed a significant improvement of 19% in post-test performance. Conclusion: The study confirmed the effectiveness of realistic simulation associated with the expository class, contributing to the immediate retention of knowledge and satisfaction among nursing professionals.
