Abstract

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological profile of breast cancer in men in Brazil between 2013 and 2023. Methods: This is a cross-sectional ecological study, which uses descriptive statistical analysis, with data collection from the Department of Information Technology of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) between 2013 and 2023, targeting men with malignant breast neoplasia in Brazil. Results: In Brazil, between 2013 and 2023, 514,541 hospitalizations were recorded, with the highest number in the southeast region. Of the total, 1.49% (7,663) were male. There was an average of 766.3 annual hospitalizations. The highest prevalence of hospitalizations occurred in people over 50 years of age (76%). Stages 3 and 4 of cancer were the most prevalent (2,147). Regarding treatment, chemotherapy was the main modality (59%). Most treatments lasted between 121 and 300 days. The mortality rate was 8.85%, with the northern region presenting the highest value (11.53%). Conclusion: There was an increase in breast cancer in men between 2013 and 2023, with the epidemiological profile characterized by elderly men in advanced stages of the disease, treated mainly with chemotherapy for at least 2 months and 1 day and presenting a high risk of mortality.
