Abstract

Objective: To identify in the literature forms of assistance and prevention of high blood pressure.  Methods: This is an integrative review, with articles published between 2015 and 2025 in Portuguese, English and Spanish and with the content available in full. As a guiding question, the following was used: “What are the ways of promoting and preventing high blood pressure in medical literature?”. The bibliographic research was carried out in the MedLine, LILACS, and IBECS databases during the months of November and December 2024 and January 2025. The Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) were used: “Hypertension”, “Health Promotion” and “Disease Prevention” with the Boolean operator “AND”. Results: The 10 publications that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria reveal that there are several ways to promote health and prevent the development of high blood pressure to control conditions. Final considerations: Adherence to habits such as not smoking, moderate alcohol consumption, physical activity and a balanced diet are measures associated with reducing mortality from cardiovascular diseases. Health professionals and organizations play an essential role in promoting public health by encouraging regular checkups and lifestyle changes.
