Abstract
Objective: To analyze the role of nursing in the care and promotion of reproductive health in elderly women, investigating their challenges, the importance of health education, and the care strategies adopted to improve their well-being and quality of life. Methods: This is an integrative literature review. The search was conducted in the SciELO, PubMed, BDENF, and LILACS databases, considering articles published between 2018 and 2024, in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. Results: Despite technical knowledge about sexuality in old age, professionals still maintain conservative attitudes, hindering dialogue with the elderly. Nursing students also indicate deficiencies in their training, especially regarding sexuality and violence in old age. Adapted sexuality contributes to the well-being of the elderly, but cultural attitudes and lack of professional guidance make it difficult to address the topic. The role of nursing is crucial in guiding this population, especially with the increased use of technologies and risks such as STIs. Final considerations: The research highlighted the scarcity of studies on the sexual health of elderly women, emphasizing the lack of adequate professional training. A more integrated approach in public health is needed, focusing on training nurses to promote ethical care centered on the needs of this population.
