Abstract
Objective: To characterize the clinical and epidemiological profile of patients undergoing elective hepatectomy and to evaluate the anesthetic strategies adopted at a reference hospital in Belém, Pará. Methods: Observational, retrospective, and descriptive study including patients who underwent elective hepatectomy (ICD-10: K76.9) between January 2022 and January 2025, through the review of electronic medical records. Results: The sample included 57 patients, with a balanced distribution between sexes and predominance of middle-aged and older adults. There was a prevalence of mixed-race, single individuals from inland areas. Most patients were classified as ASA II, denying smoking and alcohol consumption. Surgical time ranged from 160 to 259 minutes, with greater use of balanced general anesthesia associated with epidural anesthesia. Hematological and coagulational alterations were observed, highlighting the importance of rigorous preoperative monitoring. Postoperatively, 78.9% were referred to the ICU, and 31.6% presented complications. The most frequent comorbidities were cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, with a predominance of overweight and normal-weight patients. Conclusion: Patients showed a predominance of malignant diseases associated with cardiometabolic comorbidities, reflecting the regional epidemiological transition. Perioperative management demonstrated adherence to good anesthetic-surgical practices, emphasizing the need for structured optimization and postoperative monitoring protocols to achieve better clinical outcomes.
