Abstract

Objective: To analyze the impact of specific therapies on the treatment of food allergies.  Methods: : This study is an integrative literature review conducted using the PubMed, LILACS, and SciELO databases. The Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) applied were “Food Allergy,” “Treatment,” and “Immunotherapy.” Inclusion criteria comprised primary studies published in English, Portuguese, and Spanish within the last ten years, available in full text and free of charge on the selected platforms. Results: Oral and sublingual immunotherapy have demonstrated effectiveness in promoting desensitization in patients with food allergies, reaching tolerance rates of up to 67% to the allergen in some studies, especially when treatment is initiated early. Furthermore, the use of omalizumab, as well as low-dose protocols, contributes to improved safety profiles and better quality of life outcomes. Conclusion: Recent advances in immunological therapies have shown consistent effectiveness in managing food allergies, promoting desensitization, increasing the reaction threshold, and enhancing safety in cases of accidental exposure to allergens.
