Abstract
Objective: To report extensionist actions aimed at promoting the mental health of the elderly accompanied by a Family Health Strategy in Belém, Pará. Experience report: This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, developed by medical academics in the Paraíso Verde Family Health Strategy, in Belém, Pará, between February 2024 and May 2026. The actions involved elderly people accompanied by the unit and included home visits, educational lectures, conversation circles, distribution of educative folder and application of questionnaire based on the abbreviated Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15), with the aim of identifying potential warning signs. The presence of feelings of loneliness, functional limitations and low practice of physical activities was observed among some of the elderly accompanied. Educational actions favored reception, active listening and strengthening of the bond between users, family members and health team, in addition to enabling early identification of signs suggestive of psychic suffering. Final considerations: Extension activities contributed to the promotion of the mental health of the elderly population in the context of Primary Health Care, highlighting the importance of educational strategies and multidisciplinary monitoring in aging.
