Abstract
Objective: To compare the quality of life of adults with T1DM treated with CSII and MDI, and to analyze sociodemographic aspects, self-reported glycemic control, and perceptions regarding the therapeutic method. Methods: A total of 308 participants with T1DM, aged between 18 and 59 years, were included. They completed an online questionnaire covering sociodemographic conditions and quality of life assessment (WHOQOL-Bref). Proportions were compared using the chi-square test (χ²) and Fisher's exact test, while numerical variables between groups were compared using Student's t-test or the Mann-Whitney U test (p<0.05). Results: Overall, 54.2% of participants used MDI and 45.8% used CSII, with a mean age of 31 ± 9.1 years. Participants in the CSII group had higher income. Regarding the self-reported frequency of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, similar results were found in both groups. The CSII group showed higher self-rated quality of life, with no significant differences in the other WHOQOL-Bref domains. Most MDI users expressed a desire to switch methods, unlike the CSII group. Conclusion: CSII users showed higher self-rated quality of life scores compared to the MDI group, although no significant differences were observed between the groups in the remaining WHOQOL-Bref domains.
