Abstract
Objective: To analyze the applications of Business Intelligence (BI) in public health surveillance, with an emphasis on addressing Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and Chagas disease. Methods: An integrative review conducted according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines across three search layers in the PubMed, VHL/LILACS, and CAPES Periodicals databases, using controlled descriptors and a timeframe from 2016 to 2026. Results: There was an absence of studies directly linking BI tools to the monitoring of Neglected Tropical Diseases (n = 0), revealing an important scientific formalization gap in diseases associated with social vulnerability. However, 14 articles were selected in the field of epidemiological surveillance and public health, whose experiences with Power BI, geoprocessing (GIS), real-time dashboards, and automated reporting provide technological models adaptable to the surveillance of neglected diseases, particularly Chagas disease in endemic territories. Final considerations: This study highlights the invisibility and disparity in the incorporation of analytical technologies in the field of Neglected Tropical Diseases, demonstrating that modernizing the surveillance of these conditions within the Unified Health System (SUS) is epidemiologically necessary and feasible, although contingent upon addressing barriers related to interoperability, infrastructure, and data governance.
