Abstract
Objective: To report the advances in the performance of guided bone regeneration, as well as to indicate the main biomaterials used to perform this technique in publications in the last six years. Methods: This is an integrative literature review with articles published in the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) database in the last six years. The search for articles was performed by combining the terms: “Bone Regeneration” AND “Bone Graft” AND “Biocompatible Material” AND “Dentistry” AND “Alveolar Bone Graft”. Results: 13 articles were selected, 6 analyzed bone gain through hydroxyapatite, 3 used xenografts and autogenous and allogeneic grafts were analyzed by two studies each. Resorbable membranes and platelet-rich plasma have also been associated with bone grafting to promote regeneration. Final considerations: The combination of synthetic or non-synthetic bone grafts with resorbable membranes or platelet-rich plasma has shown favorable and reliable results in bone promotion.
