Abstract
Objective: Analizar la distribución de los casos de cáncer del sistema nervioso central en el tiempo y en el espacio (estado de Mato Grosso), analizando las posibles explicaciones de la situación de esta enfermedad. Methods: Ecological study, from municipalities of notification in the state of Mato Grosso. Rates were calculated and thematic maps were constructed for each triennium of study. Spatio-temporal scanning was performed to identify clusters of CNS cancer cases. Results: There were 1,608 cases of CNS cancer, with the highest number of records from 2013 to 2017. As for the incidence rates per triennium, in general, there was a reduction in their values during the study period. Two clusters were observed, cluster 1 being composed of 27 municipalities and cluster 2, comprising 6 municipalities. Conclusion: Environmental exposures, mainly linked to pesticides, may explain the results of the present study. Future research is suggested to analyze the association between environmental exposures and CNS cancer.
