Abstract
Objective: Learn about the correlation between the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the intensification of mental disorders due to the social isolation of students. Methods: This is an exploratory research, with a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive approach, on the impacts of COVID-19 on mental health, emphasizing higher education students at a university in of a university in a city in the interior of Pernambuco. The analysis of the information was obtained through an electronic questionnaire, using the Google Forms platform. Results: Was answered by 82 students who were between the 5th and 10th period of the Nursing graduation. In view of the data obtained, it was observed that the COVID-19 pandemic had a considerable negative impact on learning, since more than 80% (84, 1%) reported negative impacts on academic performance (with the change from face-to-face classes to remote teaching) associated with the repercussions that the health situation had on the mental health of students. Conclusion: The main consequences were experienced in the field of mental health and academic performance, making psychological support necessary in the educational network.
