Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the pharmacotherapy profile of patients with Cardiac Insufficiency (CI) registered in the Metoprolol use protocol, linked to Family Pharmacies, in a municipality in the interior of Bahia, regarding the doses used, comparing with the recommendations of the target dose of the Brazilian Guideline for HF. Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out with patients registered in the Metoprolol Use Protocol, linked to Family Pharmacies in a municipality in the interior of Bahia, through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire. Results: Of the study participants (n=37), only 5.4% (2), 51.4% (19) and 16.2% (6) were using the recommended target dose of beta-blocker (Metoprolol), an inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA), respectively Conclusion: There is a relevant discrepancy between the recommendations of the Brazilian Guideline and clinical practice, regarding the pharmacological classes to be used , and especially regarding the target dose of such drugs, even when there is a good level of evidence. This fact can have a negative impact on the survival of these patients, therefore, actions are needed to improve adherence to recommended therapeutic classes, as well as dose titration in order to reach the target or recommended dose.
