Abstract
Objective: To analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on anti-HPV vaccine coverage (CV) in children and adolescents of both sexes aged 9 to 14 years vaccinated with the first and/or second dose of the anti-HPV vaccine, recorded in the SI-PNI Web, between the years 2018 to 2021. Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. Data were collected through TabNet, notified to SI-PNI Web. The female population aged between nine and 26 years with HIV/AIDS were excluded. Results: The years 2018 and 2021 had, respectively, the highest and lowest percentages of VC for two doses of the HPV vaccine. The second dose presented a median percentage or below the average in all Brazilian regions. As of March 2020, when the first cases of covid-19 were registered, there was a decrease in the number of vaccines applied and an exponential growth in the number of cases of HPV, gradually decreasing in 2021. Conclusion: The pandemic has directly impacted the reduction of CV and increase in the number of HPV cases in all five regions of the country, however it is still important to note that adherence for this specific vaccine is low.
