Abstract

Objective: To identify the epidemiological profile of the HBV and HCV viruses, considering race, age group, gender and infection mechanisms, in the North and Northeast regions from 2014 to 2018. Methods: This is an observational, descriptive study of the cross-sectional, with secondary data, collected in the database of the Information System for Notifications of Diseases (SINAN). Results: There was a predominance of adult individuals, aged between 20 and 59 years old, mixed race, with a predominance of males, with sexual intercourse being the main form of transmission in both, not paying attention to the others risk factors. Conclusion: It was concluded that the prevalence of infection by HBsAg and HCV in the studied regions, demonstrated that, it is still very common the absence in the use of effective methods that prevent the occurrence not only of viral hepatitis B and C, but of a wide number of sexually transmitted infections. These findings point to the need for clarification of the population regarding the forms of transmission, treatment and prevention of viral hepatitis, with adequacy in intervention actions based on the specific needs of each region.
