Abstract
Objective: To report a case of dentoalveolar trauma in a 9-year-old male patient with avulsion of the upper central incisors and successful dental replantation. Case detail: During the emergency consultation, the guardian reported that the child had suffered a trauma and sought the dentist about 60 minutes after the accident. Teeth 11 and 21 were reimplanted and splinted, and after the surgical intervention, a semi-rigid containment was performed with orthodontic wire. After performing the clinical and radiographic examinations, the proposed treatment was apexification for the reimplanted teeth, intracanal medication with calcium hydroxide was used, with replacement every sixty days. After 2 months of completion of the endodontic treatment of element 11, an appearance of normality was observed in the dental and gingival tissues in element 21, and it was seen that it presented root resorption by replacement. Final considerations: After this period, we believe that, even with the presence of resorption, the avulsed teeth could be maintained in function, helping to restore the patient's aesthetic, functional and psychological balance.
