Abstract

Objective: Dissertation on the Brejeira insect-specific virus, belonging to the Negevirus taxon, their biological, taxonomic and phylogenetic characteristics, as well as their circulation and possible future applications in the control and prevention of arboviruses. Methods: A retrospective integrative review of studies on the Brejeira virus was carried out, in which national and international publications published in databases and search platforms. Results: 95 articles published were found. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 40 articles were included for full text analysis, among which all were written in English and most of the articles were found in the Pubmed database, where it was possible to report the Brejeira virus (BREV) the biological and genomic characteristics, the distribution of isolates in Brazil, as well as the various studies that are being carried out in relation to the applicability of  insect specific viruses (ISVs) in terms of biological control of arboviruses, the production of a vaccine platform, among others. final considerations: BREV, as well as other negeviruses, are being isolated in Brazil and deserve the attention of the scientific community, because although they do not cause disease in humans and animals, they have potential for biotechnological use with utility within public health.
