Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of hearing changes in adolescents and young adults exposed to leisure noise. Methods: It is an integrative review of the literature using the PUBMED, SCIELO and LILACS databases. Used the following descriptors “Hearing Loss, Noise-Induced” OR “Tinnitus” OR “Noise”, associated (AND) with the descriptors “Adolescent”, “AND” “Young adult” in English and Portuguese. Thus, 800 articles were identified, after selection of free and complete articles, 158 remained, which were reduced to 8 articles after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, analysis of titles and abstracts, 4 articles selected by manual search were included in the sample, given its relevance, totaling 12 articles. Results: After analyzing the studies, we found that the assessment instruments were very varied, tinnitus was the most prevalent complaint related to exposure to leisure noise and there was no relationship between exposure to leisure noise and permanent hearing loss. Final considerations: It is considered that temporary changes in the hearing threshold should be valued and long-term monitoring of these individuals is necessary to monitor permanent or early hearing changes.
