Abstract
Objective: To identify the effects of using Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) in SARS-CoV-2 infection as anticoagulant therapy in the course of the disease. Methods: This is an integrative literature review study, in which the following databases were used: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE/PubMed), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS ), Spanish Bibliographic Index in Health Sciences (IBECS) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), with the following descriptors, in health sciences (DEcS): ”(Covid OR long Covid OR post Covid OR Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome) AND Factor Xa Inhibitors”. It was used as a guiding question: can DOACs be used safely in COVID-19 infection as anticoagulant therapy? Results: The final sample consisted of 15 articles that showed adverse effects and optimistic results regarding the use of DOACs in COVID-19. Final considerations: DOACs seem advantageous on an outpatient basis, but doubts remain regarding possible undesirable drug interactions.
