Abstract
Objective: To analyze risk factors associated with the incidence of breast cancer in men, exploring its origin, clinical manifestations, consequences and current therapeutic approaches. Methods: The methodology used was an integrative and exploratory review, of a qualitative nature, focusing on publications between 2018 and 2023. Results: It was possible to identify which genetic factors, such as mutations in the BRCA2 gene, play an important role. Factors related to lifestyle, occupational exposures and certain conditions, such as Klinefelter syndrome, are also determinant. Final considerations: Breast cancer in men, although less common, requires specific attention to its risk factors and treatment approaches. Genetics, endocrine factors, environmental exposures, and family history have been identified as significant influences on the development of the disease. However, the existence of cases with no known risk factors highlights the continued need for additional research to fully understand the etiology of male breast cancer. A deep understanding of associated factors is essential to guide prevention and treatment strategies.
