Abstract

Objective: To identify the most recent and prevalent ECG changes in physical educators, discussing evaluative criteria for promoting early diagnosis. Literature review: Physical educators are more prone to developing unfavorable cardiovascular outcomes due to exercise-induced cardiac changes. Therefore, early detection of cardiovascular conditions in this population is crucial for preventing events during professional practice. In this regard, cardiovascular screening guides educators towards correct sports practice, ensuring safe and healthy exercise performance. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is thus the first-line examination for identifying heart conditions, such as "athlete's heart", and becomes essential in evaluating physical educators engaging in more than 4 hours of physical activity weekly. Final considerations: In this population, the most prevalent ECG changes include giant T-wave inversion, ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, left and right axis deviation, left and right atrial dilation, and right bundle branch block. The examination is indispensable for screening these professionals. To provide a more comprehensive assessment, clinical and imaging methods are complementary, as early diagnosis plays a fundamental role in preventing sudden death in physical educators.
