Abstract

Objective: Enhance the clinical approach to acute chest pain in emergency services by proposing a multidisciplinary protocol to improve diagnostic efficiency and proper patient management. Bibliographic review: This scientific production addresses the complexity of chest pain, a common complaint in emergency services, emphasizing its clinical relevance and the diagnostic challenges faced by healthcare professionals. With a focus on acute coronary syndrome (ACS), it highlights the need for an efficient multidisciplinary approach, discussing diagnostic methods, risk stratification, and challenges in differentiating conditions such as pericarditis, pulmonary embolism, and aortic dissection. It emphasizes the importance of initial protocols, including detailed medical history, thorough physical examination, electrocardiogram, and cardiac biomarkers. Finally, it underscores the need to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations and invasive procedures, highlighting the diagnostic challenge in non-cardiac chest pain. Final considerations: The review emphasizes the importance of effective identification strategies, considering the diversity of clinical presentations and the potentially lethal nature of some conditions associated with acute chest pain.
