Abstract
Objective: To identify nursing care for patients with autism spectrum disorder, described in national and international literature. Methods: This is a bibliographic research of the Integrative Literature Review (RIL) type. The problem, concept and context identification strategy, known as PCC, was used. Thus, the study was conducted according to the following guiding question: What is nursing care like for patients with autism spectrum disorder?” Results: The results indicate that nursing care is fundamental in monitoring patients with ASD from diagnosis to treatment, however there is a lack of qualified professionals. The discussion emphasizes that the training of health professionals is essential, with a special focus on biopsychosocio-spiritual care for people affected by the disorder, involving disciplines in the field of research and assistance, which provide guidance and training. Final Considerations: The articles analyzed in this study identified the importance of the Nurse in assistance, diagnosis and care for autistic patients and their families, being responsible for monitoring the patient, the family and evaluating development, being able to detect early any abnormality and take remedial measures to improve quality of life.
