Abstract
Objective: To analyze the actions of immunotherapy in combating neoplastic cells in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods: This is an integrative review of the literature in which the search for data to support the research was carried out on the Virtual Health Library platform, using the descriptors: immunotherapy and “colorectal neoplasms”, using the Boolean operator AND to favor the intersection of the same. Results: Immunotherapy is a treatment that aims to act with the immune system, stimulating the patient's own system, allowing the recognition and combat of tumor cells, despite being recent, this treatment has been shown to be effective in reducing tumors and controlling illness. It was found that immunotherapy presents innovative benefits in cancer treatment, as it is aimed at blocking the immunological checkpoint, its influence on the tumor microenvironment and the inhibition of the immunological checkpoint, according to evidence. Final considerations: Therefore, it is possible to conclude that immunotherapy is a promising treatment in the fight against colorectal neoplasms, as it targets the immune system through the use of monoclonal antibodies, presenting strategies that differ from conventional treatments, however there is a need to develop new studies focused on the applicability of immunotherapeutics.
