Abstract
Objective: To report the case of a 37-year-old female patient, diagnosed as a teenager with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Endometriosis – pathologies with multifactorial causes, often associated with difficulty in obtaining a pregnancy. Case details: After nine months of natural attempts to get pregnant, she initially opted for methods of hormonal stimulation, ovulation control and scheduled intercourse. However, due to failed attempts, the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure was carried out, with ovarian hyperstimulation and the collection of the patient's oocytes, as well as her husband's seminal material. 24 eggs were collected, 15 were of good quality and nine were fertilized, the remainder being cryopreserved. Despite successful fertilization in the laboratory, embryo transfer to the patient's uterus was not effective. Two other attempts were made in the following years, without success. The patient reported that, during the process, despite having a solid support network, she experienced psychological problems that directly affected her quality of life. Final considerations: It was possible to conclude the importance of studying endometriosis and PCOS associated with infertility, as well as the effects on mental health in the life of the woman and/or couple.
