Abstract

Objective: To identify the most frequent HAIs in the hospital environment, as well as the risk factors inherent to this condition. Methods: This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the Integrative Literature Review (RIL) type, scientific articles published in the last five years, in the Portuguese language, were selected, obtaining the result of 15 articles, applying the criteria For exclusion, 9 articles were filtered, of which 6 were selected for full reading. Results: With the results obtained during the literature search, it was possible to analyze six studies, which led to the formation of two categories: Most prevalent infections in adults in hospitals, namely: UTI, Blood Stream Infection; Surgical Site Infection and Pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation; and infections as a triggering factor for complications in the treatment of hospitalized children, the catheterization procedure is closely linked to the occurrence of infections, highlighting peripheral venous catheters as the main ones associated with primary bloodstream infections (IPCS). Final Considerations: during the research of this study, little literature was found on the involvement of HAIs in the pediatric context, making it difficult to provide the necessary detail for the specific approach to this topic.
