Abstract

Objective: To identify evidence in the literature on group practices within the scope of Primary Health Care in the mental health of older people. The research question was established: what is the scientific evidence on group practices, within the PHC scope for the mental health of elderly people? Results: Eight articles were retrieved that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and, after analysis, improvement in quality of life, experience of positive emotions, sense of belonging, reframing of suffering and reduction of loneliness were identified, positively influencing health mental health of elderly people. Final considerations: Evidence from the literature points to the benefits of intervention in the mental health of elderly people, with group practice being a low-complexity technique, emerging from everyday life, thus signaling its power as a health care technology for the population referred to in PHC.
