Abstract
Objective: To analyze the scientific productions on the challenges faced by nursing in the assessment and treatment of Pressure Ulcers (PU) in the hospital context. Methods: Integrative Literature Review conducted in July 2024 in the Virtual Health Library, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, resulting in the identification of 734 studies, in which inclusion/exclusion criteria were applied. Results: The final sample comprised 14 studies published between 2019 and 2023, with descriptive, observational, cohort, and quasi-experimental methodological approaches, and Levels of Evidence III, IV, and VI. Similar challenges were observed for the assessment and treatment of PU, related to training, experience, and professional communication, as well as the necessary materials and the work environment. Health education promotes better management of the incidence, assessment, and treatment of PU. Final considerations: The nursing team faces various challenges in this scenario, and health education is an effective strategy to mitigate these issues. It is expected that this study will enable the formulation of adequate actions for the assessment and treatment of injuries, preventing new cases and the worsening of those already present.
