Abstract

Objective: To analyze the working climate of the nursing team in the context of inpatient units. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, quantitative study, carried out in the inpatient units of a hospital in southern Brazil. Data was collected from nursing professionals using the Team Climate Inventory scale. The sample was selected for convenience. The analysis used measures of central tendency and dispersion, as well as absolute (n) and relative (%) frequencies of the variables. As for the bivariate analysis, Pearson's chi-square test was used. Results: There was an association between work variables related to weekly daytime work and the frequency of team meetings, with a better working climate in relation to team participation, support for ideas and objectives. On the other hand, there was a worse working climate among professionals who work weekends, those who talk to their bosses individually and who work with a greater number of patients under their care. Conclusion: The study provides consistent evidence of an association between a favorable working climate for nursing staff and sociodemographic and work-related variables in hospitalization units.
