Abstract
Objective: to analyze how nursing care is provided in post-anesthesia recovery and to understand the factors involved in this care. Methods: Qualitative and exploratory study. The population was made up of nursing teams, working in the surgical center units of two hospital institutions, located in the Northwest of Rio Grande do Sul. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The interviews were recorded and later transcribed. Data production took place between October and November 2022. The information was evaluated through Bardin's content analysis, also using the MAXQDA software. Results: The analysis resulted in three thematic categories, entitled: Health care provided by nursing teams in the post-anesthesia recovery room, Potentials in nursing care in the post-anesthesia recovery room and Challenges in nursing care in the post-anesthesia recovery room -anesthetic. Conclusion: The study theme appeared to be incipient, with difficulties in searching for updated scientific publications. It was noticed that there was little theoretical knowledge, especially regarding the specific protocols of the post-anesthesia recovery room, as well as the lack of instruments that guide assistance.
