Abstract

Objective: Verify whether pornography and masturbation lead to dysfunction erectile dysfunction, in order to recognize the reasons for such practices and ways to avoid the occurrence of psychogenic erection difficulties. Methods: This study consisted of a vast Integrative Literature Review that took place in July 2022, of articles published in English, Portuguese and Spanish from 2015 to 2022. 980 studies were found in the bases selected in health sciences through the Boolean operators “AND” and “OR”. After the pre-selection of 110 titles, 09 eligible articles were obtained as a result, which responded satisfactorily to the entire scope of the work. Then, the studies were grouped in a table for better analysis of results. Results: It was possible to establish, in 80% of the published studies, a relationship between pornography consumption and erectile dysfunction in young men. Final considerations: However, more robust studies are still needed to strengthen this link and to better understand how the neurological relationship with pornography consumption occurs and how it affects the sexual functionality of young men. Thus, it is possible to put together strategies to mitigate the harmful effects of pornography on male sexual health.
