Abstract
Objective: To perform a comparative analysis regarding the applicability, sensitivity in identifying nutritional risk and the association with clinical outcomes in critically ill patients, using the NUTRIC, mNUTRIC, GLIM and NRS-2002 tools. Methods: This is an integrative review, in which the databases used were PubMed, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (Lilacs) and SciELO. Results: At the end of the analysis, 11 articles were selected to compose the integrative review. The studies varied in geographic location, covering different populations of critically ill patients with general diagnoses and specific conditions. There was a predominance of prospective (54.5%) and single-center (63.6%) studies, with mean ages ranging from 43 to 66 years and varied gender proportions. Final considerations: The analysis of the studies suggests that the NUTRIC tool and its modified version are effective for nutritional screening in ICUs, mainly in predicting mortality and identifying nutritional deficits. However, NRS-2002 still plays an important role, especially in its high sensitivity in detecting severe malnutrition. GLIM, although less studied, has great potential for integrating different diagnostic approaches.
